Bright Fishtails

Hi all!

Sorry my lack of posting - I've been spending a lot of time at work/school trying to wrap some things up before I head out to Alberta for two weeks.  I haven't even been doing anything to my nails besides straight up painting, I just don't have the time.   I had contemplated doing a bunch of manis and scheduling posts for my two weeks away but it won't happen, so there will be yet another hiatus from me.  Hope you're all okay with that ;)

Here's a quick mani I did a few weeks back using Sarah at Chalkboard Nail's tutorial.  I loved how easy this was!

For this look I started out with a base of OPI - Kiss me on the Tulips.  I ALMOST left it bare, I was loving the pink so much, but I went for the fishtails regardless and I was pretty happy that I did.

I then added the first fishtails pattern using OPI - Fly, and the tips were covered up with China Glaze - I'm with the Lifeguard, and amazing shimmery neon green!

The only downside to this mani was my impatience.  I didn't wait long enough for the polishes to dry between coats, and in the end it was way too thick and I kept getting dings at tips.  And I got a little bit of shrinkage too.  I still wore this for a couple of days though, occasionally fixing it up until it decided to completely crack on me so I sadly removed it.

Hope you all have a fabulous Thursday!

Green-ish and Gold

Hi all!

Quick post for today.   I initially did this mani for Monkey See Monkey Do Monday's but now that a Summer Challenge has started over in the Purple Fairy Crumpet group, it doesn't appear to be going on anymore.  So I'm going to post it today :)  I used this mani from Nailside as my inspiration.

I apologize for the dry skin in these photos.  Oh, and the chip on my pinky that I hadn't noticed until now.  Boo.  The photos are not totally colour accurate, I had such a hard time taking photos of this!

For this mani I used Color Club Edie as the base.  I LOVED this colour, but the application was awful.  It required three thick coats to even out and get rid of the streakiness.  Such a bummer because I adore this green.  For the accents I used Orly - Luxe and striping tape.

I hope you're all having a great Wednesday :)

Striping tape mani

Who is excited for True Blood tonight?

I am!!  Except this is a scheduled post since I'm still at the cottage until tomorrow so we'll have to download the episode then.  I cannot wait!

Here's a mani I wore last week sometime, inspired by this post from Sarah at Chalkboard Nails (man I love her blog!).

The green base is Essie - Mojito Madness.  And it's SO PRETTY!  It's a bit darker and brighter IRL (if that makes any sense).  Just.. such a gorgeous colour.

Using striping tape for the accents, I filled in the triangles with Orly - Purple Pleather, Essie - Orange, It's Obvious! (tip of the thumb) and Wet n Wild - Dreamy Poppy (I think) on the tip of my ring finger.

This was super easy, and gave a really cool looking mani :)

In love with Baker Street!

Hi darlings!

Quick post for today, I'm off to a cottage for the weekend and have a few things that I still need to prep before we leave :)

I was sooo loving this mani!  I even kept it on longer than usual even though I could see that some of the polish was starting to crack.

The accent nails are simply Nails Inc. - Baker Street.  My first ever Nails Inc. polish.  I kept eyeballing it every time we walked by our Sephora so finally I went in and purchased it.  I love love love this blue!  It's so stunning!

The other three nails are Essie - Orange, It's Obvious! stamped with my bundle monster plates and WnW Black Creme.  Then I filled in some spots with Baker Street.

I hadn't stamped in well over a month so these aren't my best work, but in the case of leopard print, I think the pattern is quite forgiving.  I absolutely adore the orange and blue together though, in my opinion they complement each other so well :)

 Thanks for having a look!

POTTERthon: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Hi lovelies!

Seventh and last day of the HP nail series!  I'm actually pretty proud of myself for completing a challenge lol.  Seven days is probably my max ;)

In this book, Harry and his friends set out to find and destroy all of the Horcruxes created by Voldermort in order to finally defeat him.

There's a whole lot going on in this book.. I really enjoyed this one but was sad that it all had to come to an end.  Sigh.

On my index is the sign for the Deathly Hallows which are the elder wand, the resurrection stone and the cloak of invisibility.  My middle finger is in honour of Mad Eye who died at the beginning of the book when transferring Harry from Privet Drive to the Burrow.  My ring finger is the number 7 for the 7 Horcruxes that they need to find before Voldermorts death, and the pinkie.. oh the pinkie.  This.. is supposed to be the killing curse that Voldermort  uses on Harry.  However he did it with the elder wand, which backfired because it had allegiance to Harry, thus killing Voldermort.  So this is the backfiring beam from the wand... ;)

Welp.  There you have it!  This is actually making me want to re-read the books but my entire collection is at my parents place, a few thousand kilometers from here :(

Hope you all liked this series, and don't forget to see what the other girls did for the final book of the series:

POTTERthon: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Book six already!  (and whoa, I just reached 100 followers, thanks guys!!)

In this book Professor Snape makes a vow to protect and assist Draco Malfoy, Harry gets a Potions book that used to belong to the Half-Blood Prince and therefore has a bunch of helpful notes.  Harry finds out about the Horcruxes that need to be destroyed in order to kill Voldermort.  Him and Professor Dumbledore leave the school in order to fetch and destroy one of these Horcruxes which is Slytherin's locket.  They bring it back to Hogwarts but Dumbledore is weakened from drinking a potion that helped Harry get the locket and then... Dumbledore is killed by Snape who didn't really give Draco a chance to do it, then he tells Harry that he was the Half-Blood Prince and disappears before Harry can do him any harm.  Harry decides to not return to Hogwarts for his 7th year, he will instead dedicate his time to finding the Horcruxes and therefore killing Voldermort.

For this mani I did the potions book on my index - an erlenmyer flask with bubbles and little 'scribbles' on each side left by the Half-Blood Prince.  Slytherin's locket is on my middle finger, then the killing curse on my ring and pinkie that Professor Snape used to kill Dumbledore.  Sniff.  I cried so much when he died :(

Don't forget to leave the other ladies some love as well :)

POTTERthon: Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix

Hello dear readers.

Here's my 5th installment of the HP series.  And it's a bad one.. I'm almost embarrassed to post this but.. so be it.  Nail fails happen!

This book drove me nuts.  I remember sitting at my brothers place and reading it in about 3 days.  I hated professor Umbridge with a burning passion lol.  I had a hard time choosing what to do for this mani, and finally settled on this:

Professor Umbridge was upset that Harry was 'spreading rumours' about Lord Voldermort having returned, and as a punishment she had him write lines with a special quill.  He had to write "I must not tell lies" over and over again, but as he did, the words would also get cut into his skin.  So this is what I did.. I tried to make it look all hurty and bloody.. I think it sucks ;)

PS.  Don't forget to check out the other gals doing this challenge:
